'Hanu-Man': Director dreams of bettering 'Avatar', gets trolled

'Hanu-Man' will hit the screens on January 12, 2024. Speaking at the trailer launch event recently, director Prasanth Varma said that he had studied the superhero movies made by Hollywood before making 'Hanu-Man'. "The kind of build-up shots in 'Hanu-Man' is unique. Even Marvel and DC movies didn't feature such shots," Varma, known for 'AWE' and 'Zombie Reddy', said.

If those remarks were not laughable enough, he has made an even more absurd comment. In a chit-chat with Adivi Sesh, Varma said that he is ready to make something bigger than 'Avatar' if 'Hanu-Man' becomes successful commercially. "That will happen immediately after 'Hanu-Man'. The knowledge that I have gained about VFX is giving me the confidence," he said.

Naturally, he invited the ridicule of movie-goers on social media for referring to 'Avatar'. Trying to do damage control, Varma wrote, "If #HanuMan works well, it would potentially open doors for Indian filmmakers to explore ambitious VFX-driven projects like Avatar. That’s my intention in the interview! Pursuing such creative aspirations is a testament to the industry's willingness to dream big and push our boundaries."

Starring Teja Sajja as Hanumanthu, 'Hanu-Man' has Vinay Rai as the villain. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar will be seen in a key role.
