Nayanthara's 75th film, titled 'Annapoorani', was released in theatres recently. Coming with the caption 'The Goddess of Food', the film flopped at the Tamil box office.
The news is that the comedy-drama is all set to stream on Netflix from December 29 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada.
Presented by Zee Studios, Trident Arts and Naad Studios, the film tells the story of a young woman who hails from a traditional Brahmin family and goes on to become a chef, specializing in non-veg food. Also starring Jai, Sathyaraj, Achyuth Kumar, KS Ravikumar, Redin Kingsly, Achyuth Kumar, Kumari Sachu, Renuka, Karthik Kumar and Suresh Chakkaravarthy, the film is directed by Nilesh Krishna. Thaman S (music), Sathyan Sooryan (cinematography), Praveen Antony (editing), and G Durairaj (art direction) are working on the movie.
Despite little competition at the box office, 'Annapoorani' failed to become a hit. "Nayanthara stars in a template underdog story that’s neither appetizing nor delectable," wrote The Hindu in its review. "Nayanthara's empowerment film is crammed with too many ideas," opined India Today.
