Rao Ramesh as male lead: Risky gamble!

Character artists have rarely headlined mainstream commercial movies in Telugu. Whenever they have done it out of over-confidence or otherwise, they only tasted failure most of the time. LB Sriram's 'Ammo Okato Thareeku', directed by EVV Satyanarayana, is one of the few exceptions in the new century.

Rao Ramesh, one of the most sought-after character artists, will be seen as the protagonist of 'Maruti Nagar Subramanyam'. Indraja will be seen as his pair. Also starring Ankit Koyya, Ramya Pasupuleti, Ajay, Harshvardhan and Praveen, the comedy-drama has completed its shoot.

"After pan India blockbuster movies 'Pushpa', 'KGF' and 'Dhamaka', this is his full-length role. 'Happy Wedding' fame Lakshman Karya is the director of this film," the makers today said, conveying the importance of Rao Ramesh's character in the movie. 'Mem Famous' and 'Writer Padmabhushan' fame Kalyan Nayak is the music director for this film. 'Baby' fame Balreddy has cranked the camera.

Rao Ramesh was recently seen as Nithiin's onscreen father in 'Extra - Ordinary Man'. These days, he hasn't been accepting routine roles and is looking for variety. Will 'Maruti Nagar Subramanyam' offer him the much-needed change?
