Shocking! No more uncut films on Netflix

If you are planning to watch uncut versions of A-rated and UA-rated Indian films on Netflix, here is some bad news for you. The streaming giant has announced that it will not be streaming uncut versions with immediate effect. The CBFC-certified versions will be the only ones to be streamed on Netflix.

"Netflix was until now the lone holdout in regularly streaming uncensored versions of Indian films. That era has definitively come to an end. The censor board now has full control over Indian films on streaming, and OTT lawyers control the original content," a report by The Hindu said.

The decision has shocked many. Quite a few important movie titles have uncut versions that keep the viewers guessing. Many filmmakers and producers plan these versions to create hype for their movies. The rewatch value and the capability of films to widen their base among youngsters will now be dented in the case of films relying on adult content.

Love-making scenes, sex scenes, violence, bloodshed and other elements are not given a clean chit by the CBFC for theatrical screening. The OTT versions were different on Netflix. The party is now over.
