Has the media misinterpreted Allu Aravind's comment on heroes' fees?

During a press conference on Monday, Allu Aravind staunchly supported Telugu heroes against the criticism of their sky-high remuneration. The esteemed senior producer highlighted, "Merely 20% of the escalated budget is allocated to the heroes."

Aravind made this remark in the context of the escalating costs and budgets. If, for example, a big-ticket film used to cost Rs 100 Cr before the pandemic and now costs Rs 175 Cr because of the audience's appetite for big-canvas movies, as per Aravind, only 20% of the Rs 75 Cr has been pocketed by the hero of the film. It is not 20% of Rs 175 Cr that he was talking about.

The likes of Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan and Prabhas charge hefty fees. A trade report earlier this year claimed that Mythri Movie Makers will not be left with huge profits even if 'Pushpa 2' becomes a massive hit because of the nature of agreements made with Allu Arjun (and Sukumar). You can imagine the situation!
