Suma Kanakala Vs Tollywood media: Who is right, who is wrong?

Host Suma Kanakala on Wednesday invited the displeasure of the Tollywood media by inappropriately joking that the media guys who were present at the film event she was hosting were greedy eaters. "The media people are consuming snacks as if it were a sumptuous meal. They are taking time," Suma said. Ostensibly, the event was getting delayed.

This didn't go down well with the media. Suma was questioned about her "disrespectful" remarks. She was asked by a journalist to exempt the media from her sarcasms and quips. Suma did sound a bit apologetic on stage. Hours after the event concluded, she issued a statement appealing to the media to forgive her by considering her as a family member.

If you scroll social media timelines, you would be shocked to know that most Netizens believe Suma was absolutely right. "The media never shies away from passing judgements even at the cost of hurting film celebs. Then there is the problem of putting obnoxious questions. A journalist last year asked an actor as to whether he had made out with his female co-star. But the same media can't take a simple joke on itself," a Facebook user asked.

Another social media user opined that the media subjects filmmakers and producers to inconvenience by writing about box-office collections, hit/flop status and blind items even though they don't have any idea about the trade aspects of most films. Recently, producer S Naga Vamsi commented that no media person is accurate about the budgets/collections.
