Sankranti is a memorable season of film releases in Telugu. Particularly after covid lockdowns and restrictions of the last three years, 2023 Sankranti has brought a lot of cheer as five films have been released in a row. However, the verdict is clear, there’s no single super hit that gives us a wow feeling this time. Ajith’s Tegimpu has been a non-starter all the while so anyway it didn’t make a difference after its release on January 11th.

Balakrishna’s Veerasimha Reddy looks like a combination of his earlier faction films, backed by gory violence and mass formula. It has nothing new to offer to the audience. Chiru’s Valteru Veeraya is only for fans with old get up of Megastar and it has failed to impress the common man. Both films were formula based though Chiru provided some extra signature style comedy. Varasadu may be impressive slightly for Tamil folks but for a Telugu movie lover, it looks like an assortment
of earlier Telugu mass hits.

The small film Kalyanam Kamaneeyam could have been much better if tweaked a bit. But the film has proved to be an OTT material and not a wholesome entertainment flick. Overall, this Sankranti is not one to cherish at all.
