World Cup match: Indian brands 'insult' Pakistanis

The ICC Men's World Cup cricket match between India and Pakistan on Saturday was a one-sided one. Indian bowlers bowled out their rivals for 191. It was a pretty easy target for India to score 192. India, powered by Rohit Sharma's 86 and Shreyas Iyer's half century won the match with ease. It was a 7-wicket victory.

Soon after the match, HDFC Bank sarcastically tweeted that the bank doesn't disburse loans for new television sets. The private sector bank wrote, "Sorry neighbours, we can't disburse loans for new television sets (sic)." It is widely believed that some angry Pakistani fans destroy their TV sets every time their country loses to India in the World Cup.

Earlier in the day, Make My Trip put out a full-page newspaper Ad mocking Pakistanis. The Ad sarcastically welcomed Pakistanis to avail deep discounts depending on how badly Team Pakistan loses in the match.

While most Indians have welcomed the bite in the Ads, some feel that a sport was milked for negative emotions. Whatever it may be, today's India Vs Pak match didn't enjoy the hype it deserved.
