The other day, a Twitter user named Saheli Tweets wrote that a Class 9 girl whose father is known to her was caught selling her nudes online. The discovery has devastated the girl's family. The girl, whose identity hasn't been revealed for good, is suspected to have done what she did under the influence of a male pedophile who is older than her.
At the time of writing, the tweet thread has logged more than seven lakh views. This goes to show how much the story, which hasn't been reported by the mainstream media, has caught the attention of lakhs of Netizens.
The Internet is divided over the shocking, depressing tale. A section of Indians are blaming a certain Western cultural influence on impressionable girls and boys. "Nuclear families, web series, personal phones, woke mindset, lack of cultural values, lack of scolding from parents leads to all this," wrote a Twitter user. Another Netizen wrote, "Instagram is the most degenerated platform I have seen. Seen Grade 10 girls post sh*t that adult women wouldn't post 15 years back."
The degeneracy has afflicted boys as well. "Male children are caught doing nasty things online," a Facebook user lamented.
Another section is of the view that it is regressive to blame Feminism and Wokeness in this case. "No teen girl would be able to monetize her nudes without the support of an adult. I am sure that the adult in question is a male person. And the customers who brought her nudes must be male who are older than her. Why blame feminism here?" a woman asked.
