Jio Cinema recently struck a multi-year deal with Warner Bros and HBO to stream flagship content such as 'Succession' and 'Game of Thrones' in India. Its slate of prime offerings is going to also include the yet-to-be-streamed Harry Potter Series (through an agreement with Viacom18).

In the latest instance, it has joined hands with the global player NBCUniversal. Thanks to the deal, Jio Cinema's users will soon have access to several Hollywood shows.

Commenting on the development, journalist Tanay Singh Thakur said that JioCinema will likely be the largest OTT platform in India soon. "The NBC Universal deal is a multi-year deal under which popular TV shows such as Suits, Downtown Abbey, The Office and more will be available for subscribers," he wrote. The move will help the streaming platform improve its footprint in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, where people viewing Hollywood shows is in big numbers.

As is known Jio Cinema already owns IPL rights for the coming five years. The OTT platform is growing at a time when Disney Plus Hotstar is facing headwinds.
