Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is today in the news after he was arrested outside the Islamabad High Court. The popular Pakistan politician was arrested, as per the police, in the Qadir Trust case. For the unversed, the case pertains to the allegation that Bahria Town illegitimately allotted land worth millions to Al-Qadir Trust, which belongs to Khan and his family.
Early reports say that Khan was giving his biometric details on the court premises when paramilitary forces barged into the room and whisked him away. As per some reports, Khan was physically abused.
The arrest is expected to result in civil unrest in Pakistan. Khan's party, PTI, is already trying to instigate mobs. The party has described the arrest as "State terrorism" and the "Law of the jungle". "Rangers beat the lawyers, used violence on Imran Khan and abducted him," a functionary wrote.
