The Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat is considered to be prestigious and important in South India. The upcoming election from Visakhapatnam is expected to feature veteran politicians once again. The current MP from Visakhapatnam, MVV Satyanarayana, who is a member of the ruling YSR Congress Party (YCP), was given the opportunity to contest again by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, despite MVV's desire to contest in the assembly elections from Visakhapatnam East.

It was believed that Jagan would support MVV's candidacy for the assembly seat, but it seems that Jagan has made it clear that MVV should contest again for the MP seat. MVV is considered a strong candidate for the MP seat due to his background as a builder and industrialist, and his support for Jagan during his Godavari district padayatra in July 2018.

Shri Bharat, the grandson of former MP MVVS Murthy from the Telugu Desam Party, is also ready to contest again, and is already touring the constituency. JD Lakshmi Narayana, who contested as Visakhapatnam MP from Jana Sena in the last election and lost, has also expressed interest in contesting again.

It remains to be seen which party JD Lakshmi Narayana will represent, but it is clear that former candidates who were defeated in 2019 are likely to appear again in 2024 as Visakhapatnam MP. Both MVV and Shri Bharat are confident of victory, while JD Lakshmi Narayana believes that the changing political landscape may give him a chance.
