The US has met the Congressionally mandated H1-B visa cap for the fiscal year 2024, according to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The USCIS announced on Monday that it has received enough electronic registrations during the initial registration period to meet the FY 2024 H-1B numerical allocations, including the advanced degree exemption (master’s cap).

After selecting registrations randomly to reach the cap, USCIS has notified all prospective petitioners with selected registrations that they are eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition for the beneficiary named in the applicable selected registration.

US companies can hire foreign workers in specialty occupations requiring theoretical or technical expertise through the H-1B visa program. It is the most in-demand work visa among foreign professionals, particularly Indians.

Starting from April 1, 2023, only petitioners with selected registrations can file H-1B cap-subject petitions for FY 2024, and only for the beneficiary named in the applicable selected registration notice.
