Poaching MLA’s has become common in most states across India. Particularly after 2014 elections, in more than ten states across India Bharatiya Janatha Party has done this by toppling the elected governments one after the other. This is one major issue that has made people question the ethics of the saffron party, which though reviled, is equally admired by critics for its ethics and commitment.
These days BJP seems to have none of it. The way it had been bulldozing elected governments is untenable in the long term and for more than one year, it has been eagerly waiting to trouble the BRS government in Telangana at any cost. It imposed by-elections in Huzurabad and Munugodu. Although the victors may be different, it was its way of conveying to the electorate in Telangana that it is the only credible alternative to BRS.
However, this has crossed to a very next level when some of its mediators including swamy’s were caught red handed trying to lure four TRS MLAs each at the cost of not less than 50 crores. The source of such money has to be found out, for which SIT has been formed by the government of Telangana. The moment Telangana police took it to the high court for probe, BJP has been making all its efforts to ensure that the case is diluted and the accused get bail. This clearly shows the actual intent of the saffron party.
The party has been trying through its legal counsels to whittle down the case by hook or crook. In the public domain, BJP leaders in Telangana have been saying that they have nothing to do with the entire scandal episode. Now suddenly Telangana high court transferred this case to CBI and BJP leaders, including Union Minister Kishan Reddy have been openly celebrating this moment.
The fact of the matter is when they claim that they have no idea who these middlemen are and claim no association with this poach gate scandal, then there is nothing to rejoice in handing over the case to CBI. The fact that they started celebrating as if when the case comes to CBI, they can turn the case in their favour. It is a clear indication that the Union government is using CBI and ED as its weapons and this episode testifies that fact.
