KCR spent Rs 2.88 lakh crore without 'authorisation'

A report by Deccan Chronicle based on a CAG report says that the BRS government "fooled the people of Telangana by diverting Rs 2.88 lakh crore meant for welfare schemes and development programs to repay loans". The headline of the report says, "KCR spent Rs 2,88,811,00,00,000 public money without authorisation." By writing the amount without a decimal, the headline seeks to grab the attention of the readers. The findings of the CAG report are not known to many, it implies.

The report says that KCR, when he led the State as the CM, did not get an excess expenditure of Rs 2,88,811 crore (over and above allocation) regularised. The report pertains to financial years 2014-15 to 2021-22.

The report says that this is in addition to the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme witnessing a huge negative, "possibly to the tune of over Rs 1,00,000 crore".

"Though the CAG did not explain the reasons for excess expenditure from FY 2014-15 to FY 2020-21, the lion’s share was from fiscal administration, planning, surveys and statistics, which comes under the finance department," the report by the newspaper quotes the CAG as saying.
