Once bitten, twice shy. But this doesn’t seem to apply for Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP chief who is again keen to test the political waters in Telangana. The party here has been on a downward spiral since 2009. After Telangana agitation picked up it lost many leaders to TRS.

After state bifurcation in 2014, it lost most MLA’s and even the remaining cadre. Following the drubbing in the 2018 elections, the party is finding it tough to even find candidates in most constituencies of Telangana. Due to caste equations, Babu is again starting his campaign this time, from Khammam region.

This segment has many settlers and most of them share more affinity with Andhra. Hence, rather than focusing on hardcore Telangana segments, Babu seems to be again devoting his energies here. His detractors feel that when TDP is on a sticky wicket in AP itself, with Telangana entry again he may be losing big time.
