On Saturday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) authorities released Kalvakuntla Kavitha, a member of the Bharath Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, after nine hours of questioning in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam.

Kavitha was reportedly questioned separately and with the other accused, Arun Ramachandra Pillai and Sameer Mahendru. Contrary to earlier reports, the ED authorities did not arrest Kavitha. However, they seized her personal phones and asked her to send her official mobile phones, which were retrieved by her personal staff.

The authorities continued to question Kavitha after lunch, which led to some tension in the BRS camp, with police stepping up security around the ED office and Kavitha's residence. Kavitha left the ED office around 8 pm and was driven straight to her residence. While the ED authorities did not reveal anything, sources suggest that Kavitha may be questioned again on Monday.

On the other side, there is a talk that the Central BJP leadership doesn't want BRS to gain any additional mileage and hence ED may have not gone into arrest mode. They seem to be playing a mind game, arouse curiosity about arrest and then fizzle it out, but they plan to arrest on one occasion sooner, for which they are playing cards close to their chest.
