The Karnataka government recently claimed to have secured an agreement with Foxconn Technology group, a Taiwanese multinational electronics corporation, to establish a manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. However, the Telangana government has since provided evidence that the facility will instead be located in Hyderabad.

In a letter to Telangana's Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, Foxconn Chairman Young Liu confirmed the company's commitment to setting up its manufacturing facility at Kongara Kalan, located on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Liu reportedly expressed gratitude for the hospitality he received during his visit to Hyderabad on March 2 and sought the support of the Telangana government in expediting the operationalization of the Kongar Kalan Park.

The Karnataka government announced on March 4 that Foxconn, a major OEM for Apple and several other electronics and mobile companies, would invest $700 million in a new plant near Bengaluru International Airport. Karnataka's Chief Minister, Baswaraj Bommai, tweeted about the agreement, claiming that it would create 100,000 jobs and that 300 acres of land had been allocated for the project.

However, Liu's letter to KCR contradicts Bommai's claims. Liu also invited KCR to Taiwan as his personal guest and expressed his desire to host the Telangana chief minister in Taipei. During his meeting with KCR at Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad, sources say that Liu agreed to establish an electronics manufacturing facility in Telangana that would directly and indirectly generate employment opportunities for over 100,000 people over the next decade.
