Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s grandson and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna has been embroiled in a sex scandal. Hundreds of videos allegedly implicating him have appeared. The issue has rocked the Karnataka politics this election season.
On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reacted to the issue amidst allegations that PM Modi and the BJP are silent about their alliance partner's MP getting involved in a shocking scandal. He said that the buck stops with the Congress government in Karnataka since law and order is a state subject as per the Indian Constitution. "We are in favor of the investigation and our partner JDS has also announced to take action against it. Today there is a meeting of their core committee and steps will be taken," the BJP leader said.
There are reports that a BJP leader from Karnataka had raised a red flag against Prajwal much before he was given a ticket by the JDS. Had the BJP high command responded in time and forced HD Kumaraswamy not to give him a ticket, the NDA would have been spared embarrassment.
