Did Aamir Khan really ask people to vote for Congress? Find out

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, as per a few Congress functionaries on social media, recently endorsed the Congress party. The claim is based on a deepfake video against which the 'Dangal' actor has lodged a complaint.

In the fake video, here is what Aamir is heard saying: "Friends, if you believe India is a poor country, you are entirely mistaken. Every citizen in this country is a lakhpati (millionaire). Everyone should have at least Rs 15 lakh... What's that? You don't have the money? So, where did your Rs 15 lakh go? Beware of jumla (false) promises."

For those of you who are aware, the Opposition often questions Narendra Modi over the "unfulfilled promise" of depositing Rs 15 lakh into the bank account of every Indian.

As per NDTV, Aamir didn't say those words. Some mischievous element used his words from a Satyamev Jayate promo from many years ago. Here is what he actually said in the promo: "Friends, if you think that India is a poor country, then you are absolutely wrong. Because every citizen in the country is a crorepati. Everyone should have at least Rs 1 crore... What did you say? You don't have the money? So, where did your Rs 1 crore go? Find out this Sunday at 11 in the morning."
