BJP Manifesto: Modi announces bringing Olympic Games 2036 to India?

Appealing to the sports Community, the BJP mentioned that they would facilitate sending a bid to host Olympic games in 2036, as it was announced in its recently released manifesto on Sunday, April 14, 2024. In the last decade, the government has supported 280 athletes to excel in the Olympics and other sporting events.

“We will facilitate IOA (Indian Olympic Association) to bid for hosting the Olympic Games in 2036, and develop sports infrastructure like stadiums and state-of-the-art training centres to host major international sporting events,” read the manifesto.

Meanwhile, in other promises about sports, the manifesto read, “Our vision is to strengthen the sports ecosystem for Bharat to be a world leader in Sports. We will launch a new program for sportspersons, providing them with benefits like educational opportunities, employment opportunities, and promotion opportunities. We will include more traditional sports under the Khelo India Scheme. We will promote startups in sports and help create a technology ecosystem in sports.”
