Congress Drops Supriya Shrinate From MP Race After Kangana Row

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate seems to have lost her potential candidacy after her remarks over Kangana went viral. Supriya made derogatory comments against actress Kangana Ranaut and now she was not picked to contest from the Mandi constituency of Himachal Pradesh from where she contested her previous elections of 2019.

The derogatory comments were made against Kangana Ranaut in the backdrop of her announcement as BJP candidate from Mandi constituency of Himachal Pradesh. These comments have led to a social media upraor, forcing the National Commission for Women(NCW) and Election Commission of India(ECI) to intervene.

In a damage control measure, Supriya Shrinate said, "I swiftly removed the post once I became aware of it. Those who know me well, will understand that I do not make personal or inappropriate comments towards women. I wanted to know how this happened. Many people have access to my social media accounts.”

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has issued show-cause notices to Supriya Shrinate. The poll panel said that remark violated the Model Code of Conduct. The EC has asked to respond to the show-cause notices by March 29 evening.
