Meet Gopi Thotakura, the first Indian space tourist from Vijayawada

Blue Origin, an American aerospace manufacturer company, revealed the six-person crew flying on its NS-25 mission. The crew includes Gopi Thotakura, who is a person hailing from Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh. With this, Gopi would become the first Indian space tourist, setting a record. Meanwhile, the details of their flight date will be announced soon.

As per the Blue Origin, this mission would be the seventh human flight for the New Shepard program and the 25th in its history. To date, the program has flown 31 humans above the Kármán line.

Gopi is a pilot and aviator who learned how to fly before he could drive. He’s co-founder of Preserve Life Corp, a global centre for holistic wellness and applied health located near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. In addition to flying jets commercially, Gopi pilots bush, aerobatic, and seaplanes, as well as gliders and hot air balloons, and has served as an international medical jet pilot. A lifelong traveller, his most recent adventure took him to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Gopi is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
