The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the joint Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh has reportedly finalized the list of candidates who will contest in the 2024 assembly elections, almost a year in advance. This is said to be unusual for the TDP, as they typically finalize candidates after the election notification.

The party is said to have selected candidates for all but three of the fourteen assembly seats in the district. The names of key candidates include TG Bharat, son of former minister and current BJP leader TG Venkatesh, for Kurnool City, and Gauthu Charita Reddy for Mantralayam or Panyam.

However, the TDP has yet to finalize candidates for the remaining three seats, including the two seats held by the Bhuma family in Allagadda and Nandyala. Former minister Bhuma Akhilapriya, who lost the election in 2019, is reportedly pushing for a ticket in Allagadda, while Nandyala is also said to be in the hands of the Bhuma family.

It is unclear whether Akhilapriya will be given a ticket or if a newcomer, such as Bhuma Kishore Kumar Reddy or Akhilapriya's younger brother Vikhyat Reddy, will be selected instead. TDP chief Chandrababu is reputed for his use and throw policy and now he seems to be playing a game with the younger lot in the family without properly communicating with them or giving them proper importance even as they are eager to test their luck this time.
