Is the Modi government aggressively pursuing Rahul Gandhi? Suspicion is growing that this may be the case. After the Surat court imposed a 2-year sentence on Rahul, the Modi government disqualified him as an MP and served him notice to vacate his MP bungalow immediately. Many people believe that the Modi government is overreacting to this situation, particularly by giving such an immediate vacate notice.

The central government has clarified that Rahul, now disqualified as an MP, will not be allowed to stay in the bungalow designated for MPs. Accordingly, Rahul has received notices from the Lok Sabha Housing Panel to vacate the bungalow. However, he has been given time till April 23rd to actually vacate the premises.

Normally, when an MP loses his or her position, the central government provides a six-month grace period for vacating the bungalow. In some cases, former central ministers and MPs have refused to vacate their bungalows for years. It would make sense for the government to act firmly in such cases. However, the same cannot be said for Rahul, who is a person in the Z plus category.

Rahul was given one month to appeal the Surat court's decision to sentence him to more than two years, meaning that the sentence would not go into effect for some time. Given that this matter is widely known, it is unclear why the Lok Sabha Secretariat is in such a rush to remove Rahul from his bungalow.

This has led to a growing perception that the Modi government is overreacting. In this regard, 16 opposition parties have joined together against the Modi government. It remains to be seen what the ultimate outcome of this situation will be.
