The Tollywood industry has been going through a spate of tragedies with some of the finest stalwarts passing away. In lieu of that, the North American Telugu Association (NATA) organized a program 'Kalanjali' which was a tribute to the departed souls.

This was done at the SVS Lotus Temple in northern Virginia under the aegis of NATA board of directors Ms. Sudha Rani Kondapu. The chief guest for this event was famous film personality Thammareddy Bharadwaja. The event also had the participation of Ms. Mallika Ramprasad, Mr Harinath Reddy, Mr Anjaneya Reddy Dondeti, Mr Satish Narala, Mr Satya Patil, Mr Madhu Motati, Mr Suresh Kothinti, Mr Ramesh Reddy, Mr Eshwar Reddy Somu, Mr Sujit Maram, Mr Pardha Byreddy, Mr Ramana Maddikunta and others.

The pictures of Kalatapaswi K Viswanath, senior actress Jamuna, renowned singer Vani Jayaram were garlanded by the members and everyone expressed their anguish and grief over the loss of such great people. Sharing their thoughts, the members revealed how the trio was part of many films that reflected the tradition and culture of Telugu people and brought international recognition.

They also added how it was saddening to lose many other renowned names like superstar Krishna, rebel star Krishnam Raju, Navarasa Natana Sarvabhowma Satyanarayana, Chalapathi Rao and Nandamuri Taraka Rathna. The event also had the Kuchipudi dance performance from the students of Bharat Mallika Kuchipudi Dance School. The event went on for four hours and it had participation from members of Washington DC as well.
