It is part of the process that whenever a big film is due for release the advance bookings open. However, things get different when it is the festival of Sankranthi and there are at least three or four biggies which are in the race at the box office. This year, that situation has arrived but there seems to be a hiccup of sorts.

This has to do with the advance bookings. Usually, the advance booking counters open 10 days before the release. For the recent Hollywood release ‘Avatar- The Way Of Water’ bookings opened 10 days before release and that’s why the film got that much hype and heavy opening collections. However, with films like ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ ‘Waltair Veerayya’ on the anvil, the counters haven’t opened yet.

One report says until the censor is completed they won’t open the advance booking. As such, the censor process is getting delayed but then in the US, the advance bookings have already opened. Some say if the makers had put pressure on opening the advance bookings it would have been better. However, are the makers worried about the openings? Do they fear that opening the counter 10 days before will send an indicator of sorts? Given the festival hype and the trailer’s positive response, this should not be an issue. Let us wish the counters open at the earliest.
