Vijay Deverakonda in a rural film - Can it be a game-changer?

Vijay Deverakonda has been synonymous with playing characters inhabiting urban landscapes. 'Kushi', 'The Family Star' and even 'Liger', all of which have been released in the post-pandemic era, were more urbane than his previous outings. 'Arjun Reddy' and 'Dear Comrade' had a distinct urban character. 'Geetha Govindam' had rural sensibilities in terms of the nature of the plot. However, VD's costumes, language and demeanour were all urban in nature.

For a change, he will now be doing a village-based film. Director Ravi Kiran Kola, who is known for the 2018 film 'Raja Varu Rani Varu', is going to wield the megaphone. It is going to be an action drama.

To be jointly produced by Dil Raju and Shirish of Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film will be formally announced on May 9.

If this role suits VD, it will be a game-changer of sorts. Many were skeptical when Nani took on a rugged role in 'Dasara'. But he proved his critics wrong. Vijay too might also surprise everyone. This is going to be quite an exciting outing for him and his fans!
