Interview: Allari Naresh talks about 'Aa Okkati Adakku'

'Aa Okkati Adakku' is a tricky title but Allari Naresh is confident that the audience will find it story-appropriate. Ahead of the family entertainer's release in theatres this Friday (May 3), the actor suggests that the film delves into a real issue that he says emerges from certain social and ethical realities unique to our society.

Highlights:

People get conned in India all the time. Matrimony sites indulge in questionable behaviour, exploiting the desperation of men and women who want to get married. Unmarried people, especially those who are aging, are fleeced. 'Aa Okkati Adakku' explores this reality in an entertaining manner. While the issue is serious, the treatment is not. Spare the climax, the rest of the film is light.

Someone I knew went through feelings of loneliness during the Covid-19 pandemic only because he was unmarried. The need for companionship is immense. That's why people want to get married.

Faria Abdullah is a talented actress. Director Malli Ankam's work and writer Abburi Ravi's writing will be loved by the audience. Producer Rajiv Chilaka of Chilaka Productions is passionate. He has done so much on the animation film front.

I was seen in 'Naa Saami Ranga' earlier this year. 'Aa Okkati Adakku' is my second release. 'Bachchala Malli' could be a July or August release. Another film will be coming up in December. In all, I will have four releases this year. I am also writing 'Sudigadu 2', a thematic sequel to 'Sudigadu'. Lately, it dawned upon me that many among the Hindi audience have misunderstood 'Sudigadu' as something other than a spoof!
