Producer Venu Donepudi of Chitralayam Studios is making Gopichand's 32nd film on a prestigious scale. He is joined by People Media Factory and director Sreenu Vaitla. On Thursday, on the occasion of Eid, the makers put out an intriguing, mildly shocking glimpse named First Strike.
True to its name, the video is striking. It opens with a wedding ceremony in a remote village wherein the bride and her groom are seen entering the venue while a group of musicians play mirthful music. Contrary to expectations and conventions, Gopichand plays an anti-hero and enters the venue with a menacing stride. He unleashes his machine gun, guns down the revellers, and mouths a Hindi line.
His character believes that what belongs to him can't be snatched away from him. Is he hinting at a troubled past? We wouldn't know for now. Wonder what director Vaitla has in mind.
Gopi Mohan is penning the screenplay. KV Guhan and Chaitan Bharadwaj are the director of photography and music director, respectively. With the action scenes composed by Ravi Verma and Dinesh Subbarayan, the film stars Kavya Thapar as the heroine. Its release date is yet to be made official.
