The lukewarm response to the latest theatrical release has made the producers launch a 'free tickets distribution' scheme. On December 30 and 31, free tickets will be distributed at a select few theatres in Hyderabad, Vizag and Bhimavaram to students on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The publicity measure is unlikely to result in a turnaround. However, it will somehow keep the film in the news cycle to an extent. The offer only goes to show that the exhibitors and makers are desperate to draw the audience to the theatres over the weekend.
In our negative review, we described 'Bubblegum' as a tale of an entitled slum-dwelling youngster who can't handle a single awkward situation without behaving like a ruffian. "The love story comes from someone who directed the commendable 'Kshanam' and acclaimed 'Krishna And His Leela'. Why is it so so boring?" our review asked.
Harshavardhan, Bindu Chandramouli, Anu Haasan, Harsha Chemudu and others have acted in the rom-com.
