Culprit who deepfaked Rashmika Mandanna to be imprisoned for 3 years

The deepfaking of Rashmika Mandanna by an unknown offender has been taken seriously by the Narendra Modi government. The Centre has asked all social media platforms to take steps to prevent the circulation of malicious and deepfake content that can impinge on the privacy of any individual.

Since the star heroine has urged the Cyber crime police of Maharashtra to render her justice, Section 66D of the Information Technology Act, 2000 might be invoked to punish the guilty. The section calls for the punishment of whoever resorts to cheating by way of the personation of an individual with the help of computer resources. "Whoever, by means of any communication device or computer resource cheats by personating, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend to one lakh rupees," the rule says.

In the past couple of days, the 'Pushpa 2' and 'Animal' actress has received support from Amitabh Bachchan, Naga Chaitanya, Mrunal Thakur, Sai Dharam Tej and several other celebs.
