It is well known that the film RRR has been praised by celebrities across the world and has brought recognition to the Telugu film industry on the Oscars stage. However, the film has also received both praise and criticism. There were reports on social media that Rajamouli's team spent 80 crores for the promotion of the Oscar campaign. Tammareddy Bharadwaja also made similar claims in front of the media.

In response to these claims, Rajamouli's son Karthikeya clarified that they had no choice but to release the film in Hollywood studios and therefore decided to do promotion. They had planned to spend five crore rupees on the promotion, but only spent three crore rupees in the first phase. After getting the official Oscar entry, they raised more budget and spent a total of 8.5 crores on promotion. The film was screened exclusively in Los Angeles and New York, and money was also spent on campaigning.

Karthikeya also stated that the film won the Oscar due to the audience's admiration, and Junior NTR, Ram Charan, and Rahul Kalabhairava were invited to participate in the ceremony. Keeravani and Chandra Bose made their official debut with the song "Naatu Naatu", and the rest of the team bought tickets for 1500 dollars each. Karthikeya clarified that if anyone wants to buy a ticket, they should do so, but there was no need to stop the promotion of the movie.
