So far, 2023 has proven to be a bleak year for Tollywood, with the passing of multiple legends, including Jamuna and K. Vishwanath. Another notable figure has now been added to this list, as singer Vani Jayaram passed away earlier today in Chennai. Reports indicate that Vani Jayaram died at her home due to a head injury, at the age of 78. Further information about her death is currently unknown.

Vani Jayaram was a multilingual singer, who worked in languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Urdu, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Tulu, and Oriya. Over the course of her five-decade long career, she recorded over 10,000 songs.

She was widely recognized for her talent, receiving numerous accolades, including three Filmfare Awards, three National Awards, as well as several state awards in Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. She was even recently awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award.

India's film and musical communities are mourning the loss of Vani Jayaram and wishing for her soul to rest in peace.

It should be noted that Vani Jayaram is more popular among the Telugu people with her songs from the film Swathi Kiranam, directed by K Vishwanath who passed away just a day ago.
