Hyderabad Metro has taken a new step forward in expanding its base. Smart card passes have been rolled out for the benefit of students from Saturday (July 1).
As per NVS Reddy, the MD of HMRL, students can avail of 30 trips for the cost of 20 trips.
Who is eligible to buy the passes? Students born after April 1, 1998. The offer will remain in force until March 31, 2024. The validity period for each purchase will be pre-defined.
The MD, at an event today, spoke of the number of passengers who have availed of Hyderabad Metro Rail since its inception in November 2017. As many as 40 crore passengers have used the Metro Rail, with IT employees outnumbering students. Per day, as many as 4.90 lakh passengers use the Hyderabad Metro.
There is a demand-supply mismatch in the case of Metro Rail. Bogies have to be increased to meet the demand during peak hours.
