IPL bowler Yash Dayal's 'Love Jihad' post courts controversy

Yash Dayal, who played for Gujarat Titans in the recent IPL season, today courted controversy when he posted a debatable poster on Instagram. The poster is about a Hindu woman "blindly" trusting a Muslim male, who is suggested to be cheating her in the name of love. The 'Love Jihad' poster elicited polarising responses on social media, with many accusing the 26-year-old Dayal of hate speech.

Hours later, Dayal claimed that his Instagram account had been accessed by someone else. He urged concerned authorities to help him look into the issue. The sportsman made it clear that he doesn't stand by the content of the poster.

"There were two stories posted on my Insta handle. They both weren't done by me. I have reported the matter to authorities as I believe my account is being accessed by someone else and used for posting. I am trying to regain full control of my Instagram account," Dayal has been quoted as saying. He added that he respects all communities.

But not many are ready to take his claim at face value. Dayal has been asked not to whip up hate against any community.
