The House of Representatives select committee is all set to invoke an unprecedented charge of insurrection for the first time against a former US president, according to US media reports. The panel will be publishing its final report next week.
It became an international sensation and in fact a shame on US democracy when Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the Congress on January 6th 2021 in their attempt at halting Joe Biden's certification as the next US president. While Trump denies any wrongdoing, the panel is expected to suggest that Trump be charged formally with obstructing official proceedings and a conspiracy to defraud the United States.
