Amazon has laid off employees mostly in its cloud computing and human resources divisions, according to reports. The employees affected by the latest wave of job cuts are located in the US, Canada and Costa Rica. The layoffs are part of a previously announced job cut plan that would affect 9,000 employees.

In the first round of cuts, Amazon slashed approximately 18,000 roles. This marks the largest layoffs in Amazon's 29-year history. Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky and HR head Beth Galetti informed staffers of the job cuts through memos, saying that the fundamentals and the outlook for AWS are strong, but "we focus on identifying and putting our resources behind our top priorities".

Amazon has also closed its health-focused Halo division and discontinued Halo Band, Halo View, and Halo Rise devices which are no longer available on its website.
