A young American woman, who had come to India to attend a wedding, passed away in a road accident just before she was due to depart back to America. The incident occurred on the outskirts of the Kethepalli mandal in the Nalgonda district.
According to the police, the family of Karanam Padmanaidu, who are originally from Vijayawada but have settled in America for the past few years, had a wedding in their relatives' family. Padmanaidu's daughter, Preeti, had come to attend the wedding and was scheduled to return to America after the ceremonies. Her flight was on Saturday night from Hyderabad. However, when it was time to leave for the airport, only close relatives were present to drop her off in the car.
The group was driving from Vijayawada to Hyderabad and had reached the suburbs of Kadhamgudem when an unknown vehicle, traveling at a high speed from Suryapet to Hyderabad, collided with their car from behind. The car flipped three times on the national highway as a result of the accident. Unfortunately, Karanam Preeti (21) suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot.
The driver of the car, Shreyas of Doppalapudi, and passengers Chekuri Sarita, Divi Vishwavikhyat, and Divi Padmavathy sustained serious injuries. Preeti's body was taken to Nakirekal Government Hospital for postmortem, and the injured individuals were transported for medical treatment. Ketepalli ASI N. Srinivas explained that a case has been registered and an investigation is currently underway.
