As the RRR team's Oscar win fills Telugu hearts with pride, BJP State President Bandi Sanjay took to Twitter to congratulate the team and director S S Rajamouli, calling it a historic moment for Indian cinema and Telugu people. However, his tweet was met with criticism from Twitter users who called out his past actions.

Before the movie's release, Sanjay had made communal statements, finding fault with the character of Komaram Bheem wearing a skull cap in the movie, despite it being a fictional story. He had threatened to burn the movie's reels and theatres showing it, saying that portraying Bheem as a Muslim was an insult to Adivasis. He even directly threatened Rajamouli and dared him to go ahead and release the film and face the consequences.

Twitter users were quick to point out his past behavior and videos of his speeches, exposing his history of spreading hate. As Sanjay tried to join in the celebration of the movie's success, his opportunistic tweet was met with backlash. Netizens roasted the Telangana BJP chief over his double speak and highlighted the BJP's way of handling certain things related to culture and religion. It now remains to be seen if the High Command will share a piece of their mind with Sanjay on his behavior or let him go.
