In India, there has always been the talk of anti-Congress, anti-BJP front but when the moment arrives parties again go for either Congress or the BJP without second thought, to grab power or safeguard their interest. The public meeting which marked the inaugural rally of Bharat Rashtra Samithi led by Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao created a sensation.
KCR refrained from spelling out his party's exact national political agenda at this public meeting and he rather focused on giving a national profile by inviting three chief ministers and main leaders of the Left parties. It may have been a surprising one for many as to why KCR invited only a few national leaders, even though he had met other major opposition party leaders in India as part of the fight against the BJP.
Janata Dal (U) president and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, DMK chief M K Stalin, Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray were among this list. Well, they fall under the category of Congress allies.
Janata Dal (S) leader H D Kumaraswamy from Karnataka, who was seen in BRS activities right from the beginning was also absent including Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and Bengal CM Mamatha Banerjee. Kumaraswamy is reportedly trying to cozy up with BJP once again while Naveen and Mamatha keep giving issue based support for BJP. Moreover, Mamatha has her own ambitions to become PM and for her, ego is more than national opposition unity which is weakening the anti-BJP formations over the last few years.
This time, Telangana CM KCR is very particular that it has to be a non-BJP, non-Congress front and doesn't seem to mincing his words that it is these parties who are responsible for India's problems. Therefore, KCR wants to be seen as a true pivot of a real third front, for the first time in the country and he is leaving no stone unturned in that direction. His agenda for inviting only a few leaders for the Khammam meeting was a step in that direction.
