Like it or not but the Telugu Desam Party has always been identified strongly as a caste driven party and the impression still continues. While that may be so, it is now heard that the supporting community for Chandrababu is pulling up their socks and beefing up their coffers.
Well, in less than one and half year the elections are due in Andhra Pradesh and it is evident that this is a do or die battle for not just Chandrababu but even TDP. If TDP fails to win, Babu has no choice but to retire and his party would get into the shed. Even if Lokesh is given the reins, the situation may not be that encouraging.
Hence, grapevine is making rounds that the community folks especially the NRIs are coming together to create a corpus fund and pump it for TDP. They want to ensure that by hook or crook Naidu should attain power or it would be the end of TDP as well. How successful their strategy will be is something that remains to be seen. For now, Naidu is moving heaven and earth trying to gain maximum mileage.
