Even YSRCP will agree to the fact that the main opposition party in AP is the Telugu Desam Party. In the state, the scenario is either TDP or YSRCP which everyone will agree with. Pawan Kalyan has taken no concrete steps in the last four years to prove the strength of the Janasena. People are flocking to Pawan's meetings while Janasena leaders are claiming that their graph has increased compared to the past. But Janasena has not directly participated in the elections and increased the percentage of votes in the last few years.

The Telugu Desam Party has been contesting all elections including by-elections in AP and trying to consolidate its vote bank and it fared well in the recent MLC polls. Although the victory is due to a variety of factors, the big loss of bargaining power is now for Janasena. YCP is strongly rooted in Uttarandhra while now TDP has also maintained its stronghold there. And in the districts of Rayalaseema, after the dominance of YSR and the birth of the YCP, the TDP has been going through a very tough phase. The positive results here have infused some oxygen for the yellow party.

Sources say that with the latest MLC results, Jana Sena may not be in a strong position anymore to demand more seats from TDP. TDP is looking to go to the polls with the Communists if there is no BJP. They may not offer more than three seats to the Left and if alliance with BJP materializes, they may not offer more than half a dozen seats.

There is a rumour that only twenty seats will be given to Janasena, which is the largest party for now after TDP. Pawan had condemned this number in the Machilipatnam meeting. But in the case of Janasena, there are indications that TDP is planning to stop at that number and in fact the yellow party wants to start negotiating from 15 seats only. Pawan Kalyan may have no other choice, to accept it if he wants to make some impact, according to sources.
