A social media war between the YSRC and TD in Guntur escalated to Anantapur on Monday when YSRC social media activist Harikrishna Reddy threw down a challenge to TD members to meet at the clock tower and TD office. The situation became tense when the two groups clashed and threw stones at each other, resulting in a constable being injured.

The police dispersed the groups and detained several people. The arguments on social media between YSRC and TD activists had started with a post by Harikrishna Reddy against the Paritala Ravindra family, including Rapthadu assembly segment incharge Paritala Sunitha and her son Paritala Sriram, who was party in-charge of Dharmavaram.

Sources say that despite expectation from Paritala family, there were very few TDP cadres gathered at the clock tower and Harikrishna Reddy even as YSRC cadres also arrived. YSRC activists claimed that the TD social media activists were spreading false information about the chief minister and Rapthadu MLA Prakash Reddy. At the same time, there are also rumours that TDP itself hasn't taken this seriously and it is an indication that the family doesn't command as much loyalty as it used to earlier. The lack of seriousness among TDP leaders too is now under discussion.
