According to reports, senior YSRCP leader and sitting MLA of Chandragiri, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, is feeling confident and happy about the candidate that the TDP is set to field against him in the 2024 assembly elections.

The TDP during Lokesh's recent padyathra has announced Puligurthi Nani as their candidate, who had previously lost to Chevireddy in 2019 by over 45,000 votes. Political observers believe that Nani is unlikely to win against Chevireddy, who is popular among voters in the constituency due to his relief work during the Covid pandemic and distribution of Anandaiah ayurvedic medicine. Moreover, he has a reputation of a leader who remains connected with the grassroots workers in his home segment.

While some YSRCP leaders may not like Chevireddy, they are unlikely to support Nani, who is said to be unpopular. There were rumors that someone from the politically influential Galla family would contest against Chevireddy, which would have made the campaign challenging for him. However, with Nani as the candidate, Chevireddy's supporters are reportedly in celebratory mood. This is another disgrace because if Chevireddy wins again, it would be a slap again for Babu since it is
his native place.
