Kanna Lakshminarayana, a former minister who resigned from the BJP a few days ago, has reportedly decided to join the TDP instead of Jana Sena, contrary to earlier speculation. He is expected to join the TDP in the presence of party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on February 23.

Kanna held a meeting with his supporters on Sunday, who believed that his status would be elevated if he joined the TDP. As a result, he decided to join Naidu's party.

Kanna joined the BJP in 2014 and was made state unit president a few months before the 2019 Assembly polls. He opposed YCP president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's decisions regarding Amaravati and led protests against them. However, his relationship with the party changed after he was replaced by Somu Veerraju as party president.

It is speculated that Kanna may contest the upcoming elections from the Sattenapalli constituency in Guntur district on a TDP ticket, with Naidu having allegedly given him assurance regarding the same. He is also expected to participate in Lokesh's Yuva Galam padayatra after joining the TDP.

According to political rumors, it is believed that Chandrababu Naidu was the one who instructed Pawan Kalyan not to accept Kanna Lakshminarayana into Jana Sena, but instead, encouraged him to join the TDP. The sources claim that Pawan Kalyan could not disagree with Chandrababu Naidu's proposal, resulting in Kanna moving towards the TDP instead of Jana Sena.

Insiders suggest that Naidu may have felt that if a senior leader like Kanna joined Jana Sena, it would make the TDP appear inferior to Jana Sena. Therefore, if any senior leader shows an interest in joining Jana Sena, Naidu may not allow it to happen and may only offer them a position in the TDP.

It is important to note that these claims are purely based on speculation and have not been confirmed by any official sources.
