In what is being seen as a major revolution of sorts, the Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister Jagan has pulled up its socks and is coming up with a flurry of some real good projects. This is going to change the infrastructure of this state in a big way. Now, it is reported that the government has focused majorly on maritime commerce.

As part of that, the government is constructing a total of 9 fishing harbors giving assurance to the fishing community.  A total of 60000 fishing families will prosper due to this initiative. More than 10000 mechanized boats will be part of this. This is going to be a phase-wise project wherein the first phase would see the construction of 4 fishing harbors at Machilipatnam, Nijampatnam, Uppada and Juvvaladinne at a budget of Rs 1205 crores . Notable among them is the Juvvaladinne fishing harbor in Nellore district. The project is 90% complete and it took just 2 years to do it with a budget of 260 crores.

The inauguration will happen soon and as a result, this is going to become a boon for 10000 fishing families. The locals reveal that they have been fighting for a harbor since the past 16 years and now their dream is getting fulfilled. They also mentioned how due to the lack of a harbor the Chennai fishermen used to get the maximum advantage of fishing and good catch of the sea life. But with the new harbors coming up, the fishermen of Andhra Pradesh would have the advantage.

With two ports at Krishnapatnam and Ramayam respectively and that too in opposite directions, these fishing harbors have been designed to act as the connecting points. While the scheduled target for completion was October 2023, with rampant works and fast execution, the Juvvaladinne harbor is expected to get operational from April 2023 onwards. This is a wonderful achievement by the government.
