After a handshake between Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang, Indian Army soldiers were spotted playing cricket in eastern Ladakh, a region where military tensions have been high since May 2020.

The momentous occasion occurred a day after Jaishankar referred to the relationship between the two countries as 'abnormal' during a meeting at the G20 summit in New Delhi.

The location of the cricket match was not disclosed by the Indian Army, but media reports say it is around 4 km from Patrol Point 14, where the violent clash in Galwan occurred, leading to the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers in June 2020.

China has never released the exact number of casualties on their side. The game is often touted as a symbol of fair play and sources say that the Indian Army's decision to release pictures of soldiers playing cricket in Ladakh is a testament to the power of our forces to take control of the situation. It is also a strong hint to China that the country cannot play any mind game with India's determination to protect its borders.
