A 39-year-old man of Indian origin has died in the US after being hit by a passenger train while walking on tracks in New Jersey. The incident took place on February 28, when an Amtrak train en route to Boston from Washington hit him while he was walking on the tracks east of Princeton Junction.

The victim, identified as Sreekanth Digala from Annamayya, Andhra Pradesh, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a resident of Plainsboro, New Jersey and was the sole breadwinner of his family, leaving behind his wife and a 10-year-old son. The incident caused a delay of over five hours for multiple train passengers.

A GoFundMe campaign was started by Digala's friends and family to raise funds for his family's future needs like housing, education, and childcare. The fundraiser described Digala as a hardworking and free-spirited individual who was always willing to help. As of now, the campaign has raised USD 97,520 out of the USD 250,000 goal within three days.
