Aruna Miller, a 58-year-old woman of Telugu descent, has made history in America by becoming the first Indian American to hold the position of Lieutenant Governor in Maryland.

Born in India, Miller's parents emigrated to America when she was just one year old, leaving her in the care of her grandmother.

In 1972, her parents returned to India and brought her back to America with them. Miller went on to earn a degree in engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Finally she made a mark in the history of Telugus and made the community proud by taking the chair of Lt.Governor of Maryland.

While addressing as the Lt Governor of Maryland, Miller has said that she still remembers her childhood spent in India.
